About

My name is Tyler Miller. I grew up in Lake Chelan, Washington. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Secondary English Education.

Which means I have a teaching degree. So pay attention. There will be a quiz at the end of this.

I’ve been a writer as far back as I can remember. I was lucky enough to have a long series of teachers who recognized my gifts (obsessions?) and encouraged me to pursue them. Or maybe I just bugged them so much they gave me some writing paper and told me to go write something in a corner.

I’ve done a lot writing. Short stories, journalism, essays, even a middle-school play (I was the assistant director). I wrote a sermon once. And delivered it. People applauded. It’s possible I missed my calling.

For a while, I worked in the newspaper industry. I did just about every job you could do: journalism, press operator (assistant anyway), delivery, photography.

More recently, my short stories were collected and published in the books The Other Side of the Door: Dark Stories and Stranger Calls: Dark Tales. Both collections include stories that have won various awards, as well as stories that were published first in online magazines.

Both books have received fantastic praise from readers on Goodreads and Amazon, even drawing comparisons to Stephen King (my inflated ego thanks you). A big shout out to those individuals who’ve taken the time to read my work. Thanks all!

These days, I live in Spokane, Washington, with my lovely wife, Stefani, and our dog, Nickelby.
